Resumen

La manipulación de la masa y la composición corporal (masa grasa y masa libre de grasa) es una práctica común en el deporte, pero puede suponer riesgos significativos para la salud y el bienestar de los atletas. Los profesionales deben adaptarse continuamente a la creciente evidencia para implementar prácticas seguras, eficaces y adecuadas al contexto.

Esta revisión exploratoria tuvo como objetivo resumir las recomendaciones dietéticas para modificar la masa o la composición corporal en atletas adultos sin discapacidad de ambos sexos y evaluar la evolución de estas recomendaciones, desarrolladas por grupos de expertos.

Métodos: Se realizaron búsquedas en bases de datos electrónicas, incluyendo SCOPUS, PubMed, SPORTDiscus, CINAHL Complete y APA PsycINFO (última búsqueda: 2 de agosto de 2024), sin restricciones de fecha. Se incluyeron los artículos que presentaban recomendaciones dietéticas para modificar la masa o la composición corporal en poblaciones de atletas adultos sin discapacidad y que habían sido publicados por una organización especializada.
